Overview of Role:
One Hope Canada is considered a Religious Order under the provisions of the CRA and as such, missionary employment with One Hope Canada is seen as following God’s unique invitation. Members, and those aspiring to be members, must be in agreement with standards of spiritual and personal suitability, and are therefore required to sign a Statement of Affirmation annually.
Empowered by the Director, the Site Manager, with the tools and resources provided, is entrusted with fulfilling the purpose of One Hope Canada both personally and within their camp, and is responsible for all maintenance and upkeep of the camp. This includes working with and leading summer maintenance teams and work crew.
Primary Objectives  Â
- To present the Gospel, particularly to those having the least opportunity to hear of Christ, and especially to children and youth
- To accomplish the primary objective through camping ministry, by effectively planning programs and other activities related to Camp des Iles
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all facilities are maintained and kept up to ACQ standard. See ACQ binder Â
- Promote the camp within the local church and community. Ie church presentation.
- Manage crisis as they arise and follow appropriate proceduresÂ
- Ensure the confidentiality of private information of missionaries, volunteers, summer missionaries, campers, etc. will remain confidential as per the One Hope Canada Privacy Policy.
- Grounds care, including snow removal, grass cutting and leaves removal.Â
- Develop a plan to ameliorate the outdoor aesthetic within a budget and implement it. i.e landscaping
- Maintenance and repair of facilities i.e plumbing, paint, electric, within skill set; otherwise arranging for professional contractors.
- Security of buildings i.e ensuring locked doors, lights off, heat off, windows closed.
- Overseeing pool opening/closing and maintenance and kept up to ACQ standard
- Winterizing and spring preparation of site buildings and equipment
- Maintaining sports equipment in good and safe working order i.e swings, tents, bikes
- Organizing the garage/workshop and maintaining the security of tools and equipment
- Maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and paper products
- Facilitate cleanup before and after camps and guest groups
- Working with work crew manager and work crew members during summer camps to ensure adequate ground and facility maintenance
- Maintaining water filtration system i.e rez-up, rust out, adequate salt, inspect system (2x/month)
- Develop plan and work within a budget to improve indoor facilities
- Create weekly progress reports
