Kuriakos is seeking a Program Director to provide leadership for the planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of Kuriakos programs and ministries. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Director is a member of the senior leadership team and provides operational leadership across the program portfolio.
The Program Director is responsible for ensuring that Kuriakos programs are safe, engaging, inclusive, Christ-centred, and aligned with the mission, vision, and values of Kuriakos. Programs include summer camps, retreats, Outdoor School, leadership development, faith formation, and special events.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of year-round programs and ministry opportunities.
* Provide leadership for worship, Bible study, devotional life, Christian community, and faith formation throughout Kuriakos programs.
* Oversee the successful delivery of summer camps, retreats, Outdoor School, and special events, including appropriate staffing, equipment, scheduling, and risk management.
* Recruit, train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate seasonal program staff and volunteers.
* Develop a healthy leadership culture grounded in servant leadership, Christian community, personal growth, and teamwork.
* Provide leadership for the Leaders in Training (LIT) and Servants in Training (SIT) programs and help identify and develop emerging leaders.
* Build positive relationships with campers, families, congregations, schools, volunteers, retreat groups, and community partners.
* Collaborate with the Administrative Director and Property Director to ensure guest services, facilities, equipment, food service, and hospitality effectively support programming.
* Develop and manage program budgets and steward program resources responsibly.
* Evaluate programs and recommend improvements, new initiatives, and opportunities for ministry development.
* Represent Kuriakos within the church and wider community as delegated by the Executive Director.
Qualifications and Requirements
* A bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Outdoor Leadership or Education, **or at least three years of experience in ministry or a related field**.
* Demonstrated leadership experience in ministry or an equivalent field.
* CPR and First Aid certification.
* A valid driver’s licence and ability to drive camp vehicles as needed.
* Certifications in high ropes and canoeing are an asset.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
* Ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and supervise staff and volunteers.
* Creativity, initiative, sound judgment, resilience, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
* A strong commitment to the mission, vision, values, and Christian ministry of Kuriakos.
Other Important Details
The Program Director reports to the Executive Director and supervises Program Coordinators, Outdoor School staff, seasonal program staff, LIT and SIT participants, program volunteers, and other staff assigned to the program portfolio.
The position requires the ability to move freely around Kuriakos’ spaces and a willingness to live on site during the summer program season.
