The Opportunity
Due to an unexpected resignation, we are seeking a skilled, passionate Camp Food Services Manager / Camp Chef to join our team ahead of the upcoming summer season. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for all aspects of camp food service from daily meal preparation to special event catering. If you are a talented cook who loves people and wants your work to reflect your faith, we want to hear from you right away.
This is more than a cooking position. We are looking for someone who views hospitality as ministry and understands that every meal served contributes to creating an environment where people can rest, connect, and grow in their faith. The successful candidate will oversee food preparation and kitchen operations for camps, retreats, and guest groups while leading and mentoring kitchen staff and volunteers.
We are open to discussing either a full-time year-round position or a part-time seasonal arrangement with the right individual.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious, appealing meals for campers and staff daily (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
- Lead and manage kitchen volunteers and support staff during meal service
- Oversee all catering for special camp events, banquets, and group gatherings
- Manage food inventory, purchasing, and supplier relationships within budget
- Maintain rigorous food safety, hygiene, and health standards in all kitchen areas
- Accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and special needs with care and creativity
- Keep kitchen equipment clean, organized, and in proper working order
- Foster a positive, Christian faith-centred atmosphere in the kitchen and dining hall
- Coordinate meal schedules with camp programming and activity leaders
What we are looking for
- Proven experience as a chef, cook, or catering lead — camp, institutional, or hospitality experience an asset
- Strong skills in high-volume cooking and meal planning for large groups
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices (Food Handler Certification preferred)
- Flexibility and creativity — camp menus require adaptability and improvisation
- A servant heart and alignment with Christian values; comfort working in a faith-based environment
What You Should Know
This position is rewarding, but it is not easy. Successful candidates must be prepared for:
- Long days during peak ministry seasons.
- Weekend and evening work.
- Physical demands associated with commercial kitchen operations.
- Serving large groups while maintaining excellence and hospitality.
