About the Position

Caton’s Island summer camp is a 120-acre island located on the Saint John River near Browns Flat, New Brunswick, Canada; owned and operated by the Atlantic District of The Wesleyan Church. Our purpose is to provide children and youth with a quality camp experience where they will be challenged to broaden their horizons, acquire new skills, make new friends and learn about the love of Jesus Christ in an atmosphere of fun, adventure, and encouragement.

Term: part time salaried (potential for full time position as targets are met) This is a part-time year round contract position, with the bulk of hours from May through September being served on Caton’s Island. Some flexibility of hours is expected given the largest portion of hours will be spent in the summer months. Must be onsite for at least 5-6 days per week during camp operations depending upon the needs of the camp and to provide in person contact for staff, volunteers, and campers. Off-season work (October – April) will include fundraising, development of strategic partnerships, and building the team for the upcoming camp season.

The successful candidate will participate in a two year succession plan as the present Director transitions to retirement. Year One will consist of learning the role and the intricacies of managing Caton’s Island with the present Director maintaining the responsibilities and title of Director. The successful candidate will be known as the Director elect. Year Two will consist of the successful candidate in full responsibility as the Director, with the retiring Director serving in an advisory capacity.
