As a resource for Christians to gather for fellowship, a place for children and youth to explore their faith, and an opportunity for young people to grow their work ethic with a Kingdom-centred mindset, Silver Lake Wesleyan Camp seeks to build a team which prioritizes the ministry of Christ’s love through camping. As part of the Wesleyan denomination, SLWC adheres to Wesleyan beliefs and values.
Over the past dozen years, Silver Lake Wesleyan Camp has experienced significant growth in its Ministries. From a low of under 250 campers per year previously, we are blessed to have served an average of 1200 campers each of the past 4 years. To support that growth, our staffing contingent has more than doubled.
As our growth continues, we have seen the need to create a new position called General Director – Operations. At present, our Executive Director oversees operations in addition to the leadership he provides at the Executive level. This new position will allow our Executive Director to give more attention to strategies such as marketing, partnership development, fundraising, and expansion.
General Director – Operations
The General Director of Operations would be responsible for giving leadership to:
- Our Guest Services Director who oversees all food services and accommodations (we annually serve approximately 40,000 meals to 7,000 guests / campers);
- Our Events coordinator who manages the hosting of over 40 groups that rent our facilities each year;
- Our Property Manager who maintains the 23 buildings we have on our 55 acres along with maintaining our roads, activity structures, trees, beach and lakefront areas, and septic and water systems.
- Our Community Committee who provides oversight to our communities, including up to 70 families who lease a lot from us for their cottage or trailer.
In addition, our General Director of Operations gives oversight for the projects we take on as we add buildings and activity structures to our portfolio of infrastructure.
An ideal candidate will have had at least 10 years management experience in any field, with some preference given to management in Hospitality or Property. The successful candidate will have the ability to,
- Manage people – his or her 4 direct reports hire up to 60 seasonal staff, and
- Manage a budget assigned to them.
