About the Position

Executive Director Job Description – Fishing Lake Bible Camp

Overview:

Fishing Lake Bible Camp, located near Wadena SK, is looking for a ¼ time Executive Director. Our lovely camp is located on the edge of a scenic lakefront. We welcome between 150-200 children every July. We’re supported by four churches from the communities of Wadena, Fosston, Wynyard and Foam Lake. This summer it will be 80 years that our God-centred camp has been in operation, sharing the Gospel and the love of Jesus to each new generation.

FLBC’s mission can be summarized as “proclaiming, teaching, evangelizing, and discipling,” helping as many children and youth in our region to become disciple-making disciples of Jesus (Matthew 28: 18-20)

The primary role of Executive Director is “to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12 NIV), to be a “trainer of trainers” in the disciple-making process that Jesus calls Christian leaders to.

Character Qualifications

Strong Christian who trusts, follows, and obeys Jesus Christ

In good standing with and a member of a local evangelical church

Reflects the character qualities listed in 1 Timothy 3: 1-12

Candidate would ideally possess the spiritual gifts of leadership, administration, and evangelism

Leadership and Staffing

Recruiting staff primarily from supporting churches, and additional staff from Bible colleges and churches with aligned theology and ministry philosophy

Organizing all positions: kitchen, maintenance, skill instructors, nurses/first-aid personnel, boat and/or bus operators, speakers, worship leaders, program directors, cabin leaders, leaders-in-training, and crew members

Ensuring proper supervision for campers and staff

Public Relations

Regularly communicating with the supporting churches with enthusiasm and excellence

Being the “face” for the camp and representing Christ and the camp well within the wider community

Programming

➔ “Leading the charge” to provide as many children and youth as possible the opportunity to hear and clearly understand God’s plan for salvation. Great effort must be placed that each child has a clearly defined opportunity to respond to the Gospel of Christ

Engineering a creative camping program that effectively engages campers, aiming to provide a positive outdoor experience where Scriptural truths are taught

Overseeing camp programming

Organizing the setup and take-down of each camping session and season
